Winter is a hard time for your car. Between road salt, ice, freezing rain, and potholes, it’s a wonder your car can make it through the colder months relatively unscathed. But even if your car looks in good shape after a harsh Pennsylvania winter, it’s important to give it some spring TLC in the form of a service visit to make sure everything’s in working order. Here are some things we’ll check during a spring maintenance visit!

Windshield Wipers

Your windshield wipers take a beating in wintertime. Ice causes them to stick to your windshield, while buildup on your windshield encourages you to use them frequently. Since spring is a generally wet time, you need to make sure your wipers are up to task. We’ll check to see how your wipers are doing, and replace them if they are worn out.

Brakes

Brakes do a lot of work in winter. Perhaps you’ve heard some strange noises coming from them, like grinding or squeaking. Even if they seem to be in good working order, it’s important to have a qualified mechanic check them out. We’ll check how much wear your brake pads and drums have, and fix or replace them as needed.

Fluids

Your car’s fluids need to be checked on a regular basis, and there’s no better time to get it done than the spring. An oil change can make sure your car is prepared to keep working through the warmer months. We’ll also check your radiator fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, washer fluid, and more. If they’re looking low, we’ll top them up for you.

Tires

As the snow and ice melt, our roads are left with potholes that can wreak havoc on our tires. We’ll check them for you and rotate them to ensure even wear. If you’ve been using winter tires we’ll switch them out for all-seasons for you.

Body

Your car’s body is covered with salt for the majority of the winter months. This can cause corrosion, especially on the undercarriage. At Rothrock Motors, weather-permitting, we end every service visit with a free car wash so you can be sure all traces of winter are gone.
